The only board-certified geriatrician in Alamance County, Dr. William Plonk enjoys taking care of patients and finding ways to manage challenging geriatric syndromes including dementia, falls, frailty, and polypharmacy. During his 23 years of clinical experience, he has served as a hospice, nursing home, urgent care, and academic primary care clinic medical director and served on the full-time geriatric faculties at both UVA and Duke University.
Dr. Plonk emphasizes a collaborative, informed, and empathetic relationship with patients. He assists them as they navigate the complicated medical system and dedicates time to assure they get the care they truly need.
In his free time Dr. Plonk enjoys long-distance hiking, crossword puzzles, and politics. He earned a varsity letter in cross-country at Princeton and has completed four marathons.
