“I place the child at the center of my care. I support and encourage my parents by educating them about the neurologic disorder affecting their child. While we are not able to provide good outcomes to all children in our care, we owe them our best efforts. We owe their parents honest and straightforward answers to difficult questions. We need to provide kind, compassionate, timely and respectful care. We need to respect customs and diversity in our multicultural population. We need to provide access to care for all children in our region.” - William H. Hickling, MD
