Board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, endocrinology and pediatric endocrinology, Michael J. Brennan, MD, is a pediatric and adult endocrinologist. His professional interests include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, growth disorders, pituitary disorders, adrenal disorders, male and female reproductive endocrinology and bone and mineral metabolism.

After serving in infantry combat during Vietnam, Dr. Brennan went on to become the first U.S. Army physician to complete a five-year combined internal medicine and pediatrics internship and residency. Also, he was the first U.S. Armed Forces physician to complete a three-year specialized fellowship in both pediatric and adult endocrinology.

In 2005, Dr. Brennan, and his wife, a nurse and diabetes educator, established Greensboro’s first ongoing pediatric endocrinology clinic with a unique personalized patient education component. Today, he cares for diverse pediatric and adult endocrinology patients, including those with lifelong congenital or genetic diseases.

A compassionate expert who takes time to truly get to know his patients, Dr. Brennan educates and collaborates with patients to help them live happier, healthier lives.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, four sons and daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren. His hobbies include history, philosophy and nature.

“I spend time with patients: time to get to know them as people who have medical problems, not just as patients with diseases; time to educate them about their health problems and treatments; and time to support them through their medical problems and life issues. Patients appreciate that time and that personal level of concern and compassion.” – Michael J. Brennan, MD

D. Brennan has provided me with excellent care for many years. He's thorough in his examination and with his explanations of my condition, as well as lab reports. He takes time for any concerns I have and remembers them at the next appointment.
