Biography

Gebre Nida, MD, an endocrinologist and diabetologist, is board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine. He serves as a member of the Annie Penn Hospital Foundation board of directors.

His professional areas of interest include diabetes and related comorbidities, including high cholesterol, high blood pressure and weight management. His other areas of expertise include thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pituitary disorders. He enjoys working with his practice to help patients achieve their treatment goals.  He is passionate about preventing type 2 diabetes, and he serves as lead physician for the Rockingham County Diabetes Task Force.

Born and raised in Ethiopia, he was drawn to relocating to North Carolina because of his love for the outdoors. In his spare time, he enjoys long distance running; he ran in the 2018 Boston Marathon and has qualified for the 2019 race.

His love of running made him the feature of a Greensboro News & Record podcast where he talks about his practice and his committment to improving the health of Rockingham County citizens.

“I love my work for the opportunity it affords me to meet a large number of patients face-to-face – to educate, counsel, and engage for preventative measures rather than just treatment interventions.” Gebre Nida, MD
