The doctor was great and made me feel very comfortable. I was very anxious going in, but her welcoming demeanor helped that go away and keep me distracted during an exam which I was very nervous about. However, after my exam she started discussing birth control, which I politely refused, and she pushed on and insinuated my previous pregnancy was unwanted because I had an abortion. I am diagnosed with PTSD which I am in therapy for, because of my experience with that pregnancy and my abortion, so this interaction triggered a panic attack after I left the office. I already struggle with a lot of negative beliefs of myself because of my trauma, and was very nervous as this was my first time back in a medical office since my abortion almost 2 years ago. I wish there was more consideration in the questioning and less assumptions made, and trust in the patient that I am making the best decisions for myself. It's difficult to receive trauma-informed medical care, and I wish this experience ended differently because it started out so well.

Dr. Carolyn Harraway-Smith, is the best Doctor, I've even had, in any specialty. I've never felt more comfortable or like any of my doctor's were heros. This woman inspires me, and I'm greatful I fell into her care.
